Resident gets the home of her dreams on her 92nd birthday

A Cross Keys Homes (CKH) resident who has been living in a one bed apartment for 35 years, was given the home of her dreams on her 92nd birthday.
Kath Watson had been visiting CKH’s Pinetree Close retirement housing scheme’s Knit and Natter club and Friendship club for several years and had always hoped that one day she would be able to live on the scheme with the other residents. To her surprise, her dreams came true on her 92nd birthday when she was offered a vacant home on the site.
Kath said: “I cannot believe it. I have longed to live on this retirement housing scheme with the friends I have made here and to be told the fantastic news on my birthday, has made all my birthday wishes come true.”
CKH together with Kath’s daughter, Claire, had arranged for the house transfer following recent health concerns, which meant that Kath needed to be moved to a home that could provide the additional support she required whilst still enabling Kath to maintain her independence.
Claire said: “I am so grateful to Cross Keys Homes for what they have been able to do for my mother. I know she will be truly happy living at this retirement housing scheme and the timing of it couldn’t have worked any better with it being her birthday today too. I am so happy for her.”
CKH’s Pinetree Close Scheme Manager, Harriet Youngs, added: “We look forward to welcoming Kath to our fabulous retirement housing scheme in the coming weeks. Pinetree Close is a wonderful place and I have no doubt that Kath will settle straight in here.”
