Report signs of subletting

Did you know that subletting a rented CKH home is against the law?

There is a huge demand for affordable homes in our area, so it’s important that anyone who doesn’t need their home any longer moves out and doesn’t use it for their own financial gain. We take housing tenancy fraud extremely seriously and will always investigate any reports of subletting.

Thanks to information from neighbours, we have been able to deal with subletting in our homes this year. One neighbour reported that they did not think their neighbour was living in their home any longer, our investigation found that the resident had moved abroad and was letting their home to someone else. Another report helped us to act when a resident was subletting the bedrooms in their home to separate families, making almost £1,000 a month. In both cases, we took the homes back and have relet them to people who need them.

We offer a £250 reward to any resident who provides information that can help us identify and stop genuine cases of subletting. If you suspect that someone is sub-letting their home, please speak to us. Our team are available over the phone 01733 385000 or on Live Chat (just click on the 'chat live' tab at the edge of your screen) Monday to Friday, 9am until 5pm, with Advisers available until 6pm on Mondays and Thursdays. You can also email  customerfirst@crosskeyshomes.co.uk with all the details.

You can also choose to remain anonymous. We will still complete an investigation although of course we will not be able to reward any information.
