We are celebrating a win in the Social Impact category of the Investors in the Environment Awards 2020.

We won the award for our commitment to changing the lives of the people who live in our communities. The holistic approach we have taken to improving the built and natural environment as well offering opportunities and support to residents won over the judges in what was a hard fought category.

We have been accredited to the iiE programme for twelve years, attaining their highest level Green accreditation in 2014, and holding it ever since. By adopting the ‘One Planet Framework’ we continue to combine environmental improvement and carbon reduction with projects to support, educate and empower people in communities across the region. As a Community Benefit organisation, every penny of profit we make is put back into services and communities as well as building much needed affordable housing.

By supporting projects such as the WestRaven Community Garden and Café, we are empowering residents to lead the change they want. We also provide training and support for people looking for work, and offer a range of activities for young people. Health and wellbeing is also a priority for us, with support available to keep body and mind well.

Our Chief Executive, Claire Higgins, said “Winning this award is fantastic recognition for the hard work our teams do every day, to help people to lead the best life they possibly can. From the resident-led WestRaven Community Garden and Café to our Be Kind Fund, that is giving residents a helping hand in these tough times, we are determined to continue to do all we can to make our communities amazing places to live.”
