We are delighted to announce that our Sports Youth Clubs, run in partnership with Youth Dreams Project, will  be starting at the beginning of October.

The Clubs, at our South Bretton Family and Community Centre and the Charteris Centre in Welland, were due to start at Easter, but lockdown led to the start being postponed.

Both organisations are keen to get the Clubs for 7 to 11 year olds, up and running to give local youngsters the chance to take part in individual and team sports activities, as well as to make new friends. The young members of the Clubs will decide the activities they take part in, and qualified coaches from Youth Dreams Project will be on hand to support and encourage them.

“After a difficult summer for many young people, where school, social clubs and other activities have been closed for many months, it is great to finally be opening up and giving children the chance to safely meet together and do some fun activities,” says our Chief Executive, Claire Higgins. “Many young people have been incredibly isolated during lockdown and so we are doing all we can to make up for this with safe activities, with the excellent, fully qualified coaches from Youth Dreams Project.”

Luke Kennedy, Founder of Youth Dreams Project added: “It’s great to finally be getting this partnership with CKH up and running. It has been a very frustrating year so far, and we know young people have been struggling with the restrictions they have faced. As a team we have worked hard to put in place all the safety precautions we can to be able to get this Sports Club up and running and give young people the social, mental and physical health benefits we know it will bring to them.”

The Clubs are completely free of charge, but places are limited and will need to be booked in advance.

The clubs are starting on 5 October and will run every Monday at the CKH South Bretton Family and Community Centre, Redpoll Place, PE3 7JB. and every Wednesday at the Charteris Centre, Normanton Road, Welland, PE1 4XE. Both clubs will run 5pm-6pm.
